waiting

well. i guess i ginxed myself by packing his bags. because he tried to come yesterday.....:)
this is a long long post

i was at work and just felt weird. people kept saying.. "you look like you have dropped".. which started to freak me out.. and my belly felt tight ALL night long. so around 5 am i decided i better go home. luckily i was able to leave. driving home my back started hurting... i took a shower to see if it would help but then i started puking.. reminiscent of my morning sickness days..
ALSO.. the last 3 days i had not required ANY insulin with my meals. which was freaking me out the most. i started researching it and that only made things worse. (come to find out .. this was my dr's main concern too, for deteriorating placenta and blood flow)

i woke my mom up and we decided to call the dr. they said to go to labor and delivery. so off we went.....

by this time i was freaked out.. but had no CLUE what was happening.

got to the hospital and checked in. . . then the RN hooked me up to the monitors to see if i was contracting and how Asher's heart rate was. of course the second those little things get strapped to my belly... he goes crazy. moves out of the way... the RN had to keep moving them to get his heart rate because he would just move out of the way..

....... my bp was high. ish... like 130's/80's..

its so cool, when they are monitoring you... the screen is directly viewable to my OB at his clinic. he watches the strip from there and gives the RN orders.

"It doesnt look like im contracting does it.." i asked

"um..... ya you are.." Staci said (my amazing RN)

"consistent?" Me

"yep, every 3-4 minutes"....Staci

hmmmmmmmm... ok...
i totally felt them.. but they felt like false labor. . or braxton hicks. i never imagined i was contracting for REAL.

"the dr wants me to check you" Staci
which was probably one of the most painful things i have ever had done.. i will leave it at that...sparing the details.

"you are dilated to 2cm, and 70-% effaced"......
She said she thought she felt his head down there. ahhhhhh... which i was completely not ready to hear that i would be attempting a regular delivery.....

thats when it all hit me.. i started crying and crying..

i asked her if that meant i was in labor and she said yep..... she talked to my OB.. which i was already scheduled to see him for a regular appointment @ 4pm. He said to go home and rest, then come see him @4 and he would check me again to see if i had dilated more. The nurse said she was positive i would be back that night and admitted to have the baby. so... by this time i was completely freaking out, she gave me a hug and said see you later.

i would now like to describe my mom's reaction to this news... that her first grandson would be coming that day. she was smiling from ear to ear... yet trying to calm me down. ... in between her texting everyone she knows to tell them that he would be here with in 24 hours. ... she would say.. its ok Kim. he wants to be here. ha ha ha.

so we went home, washed everything, packed bags, and assumed after my 4pm apt i would be admitted.

i still had not slept since before my previous night shift..

i continued to contract consistantly every 3 minutes. ALL day.

to add to this.. my dr said he felt comfortable NOT stopping labor. i was 35w6d and he said the baby is close enough to being term. which i had a REALLY bad feeling about. i wanted him to stay in till at least 37w.

got our bags in the car and headed to the dr apt.

ultrasound showed that he was STILL BREECH.. i had to laugh.. the dr said... "his BUTT is dilating your cervix"... ha ha ha. o Asher. also.... he weighed 6lbs. how cute:)!!!

he did a cord study and looked at the placenta.. which showed good blood flow. so.. he said he thought everything was ok to try and keep him in for a few more days if i was not dilated more since the morning.

he checked me again and said i was completely the same. 2cm and 70% effaced.

we talked for a while. he said he wanted to try and keep him in till tuesday. which i was really happy about. he was not 100% confident that i would be able to keep him in that long. he said the difference between delivering him today vs next week would be a matter of getting to take him home with me when i discharge or having to leave him at the hospital for a few days.

he gave me a rx for percocet and said to go home and stay in bed. that he would see me tuesday morning ... at which point they will do another cord study to make sure all that is still good. but.. that tuesday we would set a day for c-section on wed or thursday. (im hoping for thursday)..

So...

Kim this is so wonderful. I have to admit I cryed a little bit while reading it. Oh those emotions you have to go through...Is he coming? is he not coming?...it really is a roller coaster. Well at least now you have stuff ready... I am assuming they have put you on bed rest, so that is good too....boaring, but good. Now you can get all the rest you will need to bring babay Asher into the world,in just a few short days. Yay!! This is wonderful!

So if you have him in the end of July, whats the chances that you will be back at work for Jonahs addmit in Sept??? Just teasing... XO
