Elliot

Hi cute foot! (located dead center in the picture).

we met with the perinatologist yesterday... after a 1 1/2 hr wait.....
he was pretty amazing and insanely knowledgeable about gestational diabetes and the risks pre and post delivery.
he was also very encouraging. . it was nice to have someone be a little more positive :)
we are hopeful that i will continue to be able to manage my numbers with diet. and hopefully not end up on Glyburide (pill) or insulin (shot). we had a growth ultrasound... which said the baby is not getting too big so i must be doing something right. he was SO fun to watch.. moving all over and was so funny. kept opening his mouth and poking his toes out. he was curled up in the tightest ball. i ♥ him.
we spent about 4 hrs at dr appointments yesterday. i am beyond thankful to be married to Jared. he has never made me go alone. which is a totally new experience for me. when i was pregnant with Ash i either went alone, my mom and Linds came, Ange, or Chelsea. i think we enjoy our dr visit days because we are away from our 2 year olds for an hour or two. ahhh the good life :)

Gestational Diabetes ;Gestational diabetes is a type of diabetes that occurs only during pregnancy. Like other forms of diabetes, gestational diabetes affects the way your body uses sugar (glucose) — your body's main source of fuel. Gestational diabetes can cause high blood sugar levels that are unlikely to cause problems for you, but can threaten the health of your unborn baby.

the diet to control diabetes consists of low carb, high protein, and NO sugar.
my day consists of the following foods-

melba snacks- melba toast
dijon mustard
deli meat and deli cheese
apple slices
peanut butter and MORE peanut butter
grilled marinated mean (chicken, steak, fish, pork)
diet dr pepper
water. lots.
nuts
eggs
cheese
pepperoni
pita bread
sugar free jam
truvia as needed
fat free milk
grapes
clementines- addicted

and truthfully thats about it. gets pretty boring.
all for a healthy Elliot. :)
i wont lie... it is SO hard. i have no energy because i dont feel like i have any carbs all day.

so for my own record and future reference;

32 weeks with Elliot ;
have gained 3 pounds
take zofran daily to help the nausea
take 1ml of Progesterone injections in my hip 1 time a week
diagnosed with GDM (diabetes) at 29 weeks= fasting 100- 1hr after breakfast 150-1hr after lunch 130-1hr after dinner 120-before bed 80.
head down at 30 weeks

what a boring post right??!

scheduled c-section for May 16th. unless diabetes medication is needed in which they will not allow me to pass 38 weeks. we (i) will be attempting a VBAC if, and only if, i go into natural labor before 38 weeks and he is not large so i dont rupture my csection scars. scary.

today; i am grateful for a wonderful wonderful husband. who has taken on so much extra responsibility. who picks up the things i refuse to off the floor, who does more laundry these days than i do, and who ALWAYS grills me meat to eat :) i am also grateful for modern medicine, with out it i do not think i would be able to have healthy babies.
