wednesday i was not contracting. at all. SO....... dont judge me........... i put some castor oil in my pasta. i didnt think it would actually work.
Jared and i had a normal night.. we got all the laundry done and house cleaned up. i had a weird feeling to paint my toe nails, wash my hair, and shave my legs. :) so i did.
around 1am i puked. the castor oil did not make my already weak stomach happy.
Jared and i watched tv in bed for a while ... then at 3:30am i turned over in bed and felt my water break. of course every woman questions this moment.. because its not like the movies. i got up.. and in the next 10 minutes it was obvious that my water really did break. we called my mom to come watch the kids, packed some last minute items, i did my make up and hair, .... and we headed to the hospital at about 4:45.
arrived in Labor and Delivery at about 5am. my contractions were so bad i felt like he was going to come out! we got there right as the nurses were changing shift so of course it took nearly 20 minutes to even get someone to acknowledge us in the triage room. the RN checked to make sure my water broke-- it did--- and checked my cervix -- 6cm dilated. i was moving extremely fast so the nurse seemed to be running around getting me ready. she put in the iv, and the anesthesiologist came to put in my epidural. at that point the nurse wanted me to try a VBAC.
after a solid 5 whole minutes of considering it. i felt that a repeat csection was a better idea. she called the dr to come in. we went to the OR at about 6:20am. Elliot was born at 6:46am. I was headed to recovery by 7:05.
Jared was such an amazing support. he did everything. comforted me, video taped Elliots first moments, and got all the obligatory pictures. he took Elliot from the OR to give him his first bath while i was being stitched up.
by that time ... my mom, Suzanne, Mya, Lindsay, and Asher were waiting by the window in the nursery to see baby Elliot. they had all arrived about 2 minutes after i went to the OR. Mya was amazed. she could not take her eyes off his. she KNEW he was her baby. she kept pointing at him, whining when people blocked her view, and saying "baby, my baby".
he had a few low blood sugars. in the 30's. so was given some formula. he got to stay in the room with us .. he is a great nurser.. he is 100% healthy.. he didnt pass his first few hearing screens but finally passed on saturday.. and he has pretty much been held for his entire earthly life.
the first time she actually got to hold him, she was in heaven. and she hasnt really come down yet :) asher on the other hand... could take or leave him. he only slightly acknowledges his presence every once and a while.
we spent 3 nights at the hospital and came home Mothers Day.
he is content and so are we.
he is a sweet, delightful little boy. i have heard him cry a handful of times.
he has his daddy's hands, feet, ears, eyes, and face. he has his mom's nose. thats it. he is a mini Jared. apparently i was just his vessel.
we are so happy. so in love. so proud. i feel so lucky to be his mommy.
tonight i have all 3 of my children home with me.
we are 2 blissfully happy parents.

Oh Kim, I laughed I cried I judged you....hahaha, only because I too used cator oil and my experience did not turn out as well as yours, but yes it did lead to delivary...only 22 hours later. He is so cute. I love that you are beaming with light! So radient I can see it through the computer! I love you tons. You are so wonderful. Hope you are getting some sleep.
Congrats he is just beautiful! I had to laugh Weston could totally (and did) leave Cason. In fact he wouldn't even come see me in the hospital until I handed Cason to Jon. Siblings aren't they great? Please let me know if you need anything.
yay! Elliot has arrived!!!! i can't believe how fast your delivery was. i think he look so much like Asher.
awww what a sweet post :) He is adorable and so are you. You should be a very proud mommy.
